Racing to Empathy

Using Immersive Digital Environments to Foster Empathetic Classrooms

Co-led with Terrance Green, this project creates an immersive digital experience to dislodge teachers’ implicit biases, affordances and agencies, to encourage empathy for students who are not welcomed by the traditional classroom. Developed with Saga Lab at UT-Austin, Back to Class is a video game designed to work with in-training teachers to help identify and negotiate implicit bias against Black girls in primary education.
